Our 100 plus dedicated and caring employees are encouraged to employ their talents and abilities to solve any challenge faced by our patients and the surrounding community.While many hospitals, especially rural hospitals, are closing because of ever declining reimbursement for the services they provide, Grafton City Hospital continues to get stronger by operating more efficiently and providing excellent healthcare to our community.JOB SUMMARYThe Coding Specialist II is responsible for providing medical coding services to ensure the hospital can obtain appropriate and accurate reimbursement for healthcare claims. This position plays a vital role among medical providers, patients, and insurance companies by reviewing, analyzing, and coding diagnostic, procedural, and clinical information. The incumbent will ensure compliance with established coding guidelines, third party reimbursement policies, and regulations. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for clinic accounts working from appropriate documentation in the electronic health record utilizing a provided encoder. The position will also complete appropriate reports and participate in performance improvement projects. This position will also cover Coder, and Ancillary as needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: High School Diploma or GEDAssociate degree PreferredLicensure/Certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or similar or ability to obtain certification within 2 years of employment.EXPERIENCE:Knowledge of ICD-10-CM is required.Knowledge of CPT coding is required.Knowledge of coding guidelines is required.Knowledge of LCDs, NCDs and other medical review policies applying to outpatient coding is required.1 or more years of coding experience preferred.1 or more years of physician billing preferred.
