- Non-profit accounting is preferred or the equivalent of 10 years of recent experience.
- Master's degree preferred, but not required.
- Proven knowledge and skills to manage non-profit financial reporting, annual audit, 990, and day-to-day transactions with accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism.
- Proven ability to present budgets, financial statements, etc. to leadership and board members with ease and confidence.
- Prior experience overseeing human resources and employment practices including talent management, payroll and benefits.
- Self-motivated and a team player with personal qualities of integrity, credibility, flexibility and adaptability, and dedication for the success of the Foundation.
- Proficient using Microsoft Suite, Gmail, Google Drive, Google calendar, OneDrive. Desired experience with Blackbaud's Financial Edge NXT.
- Valid driver's license and ability to commute to Portland, ME office at least three days a week.
- Annual pay in the range of$90,000 - $95,000

- Cash management and regular reporting, multi-year modeling and forecasting, advice on cost management and diversified revenue streams, and general finance issue-spotting and problem solving. Monitors performance of the invested assets and cash on hand.
- Key staff liaison to the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee, which has fiduciary oversight of the organization.
- Oversees finance staff to ensure accurate and timely closings, audit, and budgeting. Implements and reviews internal controls and procedures. Provides monthly and annual reporting and reconciliations to appropriate stakeholders.
- Manages the sub-accounting and regular transfer of Foundation funds to the University. Ensures the financial terms of donor agreements are honored.
- Serves as the Foundation's primary point of contact and problem-solving partner to USM's Chief Business Office.
- Responsible for drafting all gift agreements and pledge forms in coordination with Gift Officers and Portfolio Managers.
- Serves as point of contact for University and Foundation reporting of gift fund activity.
- Responsible for consistent and high-quality processes and experiences related to onboarding, offboarding, exit interviews, performance reviews, compensation analysis, etc. in accordance with state, federal and legal requirements.
- Have knowledge of third-party payroll service functions and ensure all filings are timely and in compliance.
- Provides exceptional customer service to the Foundation and University stakeholders, donors and board members and other constituents.
