- Design, develop, and release mechanical components and subsystems for military Electro-Optical products.
- Develop component designs and mounting provisions for various devices.
- Mount of precise optical elements and sub-assemblies, developing electro-optical mechanisms used in sighting systems, develop various fire control sensors including Hand controllers, Gyros, Accelerometers, Periscopes, Auxiliary Sights, Muzzle Reference Sensors, and others.
- Design Subsystems and components to meet vehicle performance requirements including human factors, safety, environmental, and mine blast requirements.
- Conduct material selection and finish for commercial and military Electro-Optical system components, conduct detailed design of Electro-Optical custom components and also generate key characteristics, component specifications, and perform component selection for supplier-purchased parts.
- Support various projects by doing analysis and design, drawing mark-ups, tolerance stacks, and generating source data for engineering changes.
- Write material requests and shop work orders, track delivery and stock of parts, participate in integration reviews, fit checks, and write reports.
- Provide support to prototype and production vehicle build and follow-up, technical corrective action formulation, troubleshooting, and re-design activities.
- Interact frequently with inter-organizational and external customers and represent SEOS in presenting solutions to those customers for difficult tasks.
- Present design concepts and program status to functional and program management.
- Perform testing and evaluation of Electro-Optical components in the GDLS Electro-Optics Lab.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Relevant Sights and Electro-Optics experience will be considered in lieu of stated experience requirements.
- Be a self-starter and highly motivated. Experience with working on cross-functional projects and working in a shop environment is required.
- Be experienced in working with teams and effective in communicating across many disciplines and functional organizations.
- Be able to excel at completing tasks with only general guidance and not direct supervision.
- Be able to understand customer needs, formulate subsystem and component requirements and meet expectations.
- Experience with military vehicles, other heavy vehicle platforms or industrial applications of Electro-Optics is desired.
- Solid modeling experience with CAD tool is strongly desired (6 Months or more experience with CREO is strongly desired) and fluency with Teamcenter and VIS Mockup is a plus.
- A strong working knowledge and direct application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing ( GD & T) per ASME 14.5 is strongly desired.
- Previous experience with the Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) family of vehicles is strongly desired.
- Must have good general knowledge of other related disciplines.
- Must have demonstrated ability to independently develop approaches to solutions.
- Must have the ability to climb into military vehicles.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills is desired.
