(6 hours per day, 5 days per week - 30 hours per week)Position Goal
To provide support and assistance to English learner students in academics (primarily reading and math).Performance Responsibilities
1. Assist students under the direction of certified teacher(s) and building principal
2. Support and implement academic interventions and ELL instruction.
3. Conduct progress monitoring and record student growth data
3. Communicate in writing and/or orally with the teacher on a regular basis
4. Assume all other duties as assigned by building administratorQualificationsEducation:
High School Graduate
Two (2) year college degree and/or associates degree from an institution of higher learning, 60 credit hours, or passing score of one of the following: "Basic Skills Test of the Michigan Test for Michigan Teacher Certification", WorkKeys, Parapro Assessment, or minimum score on ACT, MME or SAT.Training and Experience:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferredDemonstrated Skills:
Must have demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse student populations including special population students (economic and academic disadvantaged, special education, and limited English proficient students).
Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Must be able to successfully demonstrate proficiency in supporting students in reading instruction and interventions.
Understanding of basic computer proficiency, including use of Google apps and other online programs.
Ability to relate to students, parents, staff, teachers and members of the community.This position is represented by the Wyoming Education Support Staff Association (WESSA) and is covered by our Collective Bargaining Agreement using the appropriate position step schedule.Note: Pursuant to PA 131, the selected candidate must receive clearance, from the Michigan State Police Department, prior to the offer of employment.
