At the heart is our purpose which pushes us to do all we can to create a better future for our people, our communities, and Aotearoa New Zealand.Our Opportunity:In this role as Programme Manager (Senior Project Manager), you'll have the opportunity to work on some of New Zealand's iconic infrastructure, which brings the exciting challenge of high complexity and high investment (circa $1B). In this role, you'll be helping to take care of tomorrow by managing the programme of works associated with adding an additional 50MW of generation to Ngā Tamariki Geothermal Power Station. You'll play a crucial role in supporting and guiding the team to deliver this key project which supports the decarbonisation of New Zealand. This role combines strategic planning, relationship building, industry contextual planning and requires great commercial and contractual acumen.You will have 3 direct reports (a total of 7 in your team) and will facilitate the use of contractors to accelerate our delivery of initiatives providing you with an opportunity to leave a legacy at Mercury by setting up simple and effective processes to support delivery of great outcomes. You will be exposed to Mercury's ways of working where you will be able to get involved in additional initiatives of interest to you, supported by a leader who is respectful, transparent and empowering. This role is preferred to be in Rotorua or Taupo but Hamilton can work if travel to Rotorua/Taupo regularly is achievable.   • Being part of the project leadership team and the extended generation leadership team, supporting the culture and strategy of Mercury for safe and successful outcomes
  • Own and continuously improve the project delivery standard, ensuring the project team applies the standard. Own training and competency for the team
  • Report on portfolio health and project reporting, focusing on value-based decision making and tracking project benefits
  • Assess feedback from stakeholders and contractors to enhance team performance. Support key contractor relationship meetings and performance.
We are looking for:
  • Significant project delivery leadership experience and experience leading multidisciplinary project teams
  • Graduate degree or higher diploma in Engineering or related discipline preferred. PMP certification desirable
  • Knowledge of project management frameworks and governance
  • Experience in heavy engineering and managing complex projects involving major contracts
