Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is hiring a Full-time, Rotating Shift, Security Officer.Work Full-time, Rotating shifts as a Security Officer. (Rotating Shifts rotate between Day, Evening, and Night shifts) in Virginia Beach, VA.(Up to $3,000 Sign-on Bonus for qualified candidates)Requirements:
  • Driver’s License Required
  • High School Grad or Equivalent Required
  • Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) Certification and Handle with Care (HWC) Certification Required.
  • De-escalation and Physical Intervention training successfully completed within 180 days of hire. Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification by International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) must be successfully obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Required: Active Listening, Communication, Critical Thinking, Judgment and Decision Making, Microsoft Office, Service Orientation, Speaking, Writing
  • Former military, law enforcement, or security officer experience preferred.
To bolster safety and security for our patients and team members, Sentara has implemented a Fit for Duty assessment to ensure that our officers meet a minimum standard of fitness.
  • The four-part assessment includes a response walk, a stair climb, a drag to safety and a lift.
  • All prospective security officer candidates must pass the FFD assessment, which will be administered by the respective hiring/security leader & Employee Health prior to being offered a position.
The Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees at Sentara Hospitals and Free-standing Emergency Departments.The Security Officer actively patrols campus and monitors activity in and around buildings and grounds and responds appropriately to routine and emergency situations.
