Jackson Spalding was recognized as one of the best PR agencies in America by Forbes in 2023, has been featured on Best Places to Work lists, and has earned awards ranging from the SABREs to ADDYs.RESPONSIBILITIESSpecifically, this position will be responsible for:Successfully securing earned media coverage from national media outlets.Building strategic earned media campaigns in collaboration with client teams.Advising C-suite executives on overall PR strategy.Developing compelling stories and pitch angles.Reviewing press releases, media lists, pitches created by the team.Building and maintaining a rolodex of key media contacts on behalf of our clients.Coaching and training internally and with clients.Strategic media relations areas of oversight and responsibility leading media relations for an enterprise client.EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
REQUIRED SKILLSThe ideal candidate has 8+ years of media relations experience, preferably with 2+ years in an agency environment. We will strongly consider journalists with applicable skills.Required experience includes, but is not limited to:Thorough understanding of local and national media (print, digital and social), influencers, advocates, and their needs with emphasis on consumerDemonstrated success in securing significant media coverageExisting media relationshipsExecutive presence and experienceDecision-making skills including ability to ability to apply critical thinking to a simple or complex situation, analyze situations including short- and long-term impact, understand the available options, and recommend the best course of action among the optionsProject management skills including time management prioritizationLeadership skills with managing teams and clients with influenceUnderstanding of long-term communications strategy and messaging needs as well as the right channels/events to utilize to deploy materialsExperience with and understanding of PR and marketing concepts and practicesEffective communication, writing and editing skills and knowledge of AP StyleExperience with media monitoring and reportingPlatform knowledge of Meltwater, Muckrack, Cision, PR Newswire and other standard toolsWorking knowledge of social mediaExcellent attention to detail, strong proofreading skills and ability to multitask and execute through to completionCandidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating calm under pressureEMPLOYEE BENEFITSWe believe that great work starts by taking care of our people.
