Job DescriptionRevised: 02/01/2024Oversees and maintains the City's overall computer network and supervises Network Division staff. Manages the operation and replacement of the City's computer hardware (PC's, Servers, etc.). Maintains a secure network and devices. Ensures the operation of the city's communication networks including planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. implements, administers, and maintains network services such as voice (VoIP), Internet access, Wi-Fi access, and video surveillance for City departments.Essential Functions/ Job Competencies/ Physical RequirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job.   • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff. Supervisory functions include: makes hiring and termination decisions; prioritizes assignments and directs work; develops and oversees employee work schedules and approves time away from work; provides and/or facilitates employee training and development; approves/processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; completes employee performance appraisals; determines or makes recommendations regarding new hire salaries and salary changes; and acts as liaison between employees and management.
  • Administers the City's servers, individual personal computers, and other peripherals.
  • Performs deployments, integrations, and configurations; evaluates network and security solutions for enterprise environments.
  • Develops and reviews project plans and provides cost estimates to departments for network projects.
  • Designs telecommunication systems, monitors computer system interactions, troubleshoots and diagnoses technical issues, and oversees the configuration, installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunication systems.
  • Creates and manages annual budget for division; makes recommendations for departmental improvements.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum QualificationsRequired Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited* college or university in Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Network Administration, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
  • At least five (5) years experience in server management and maintenance, cyber security standards and practices, network security, data center, voice and telecommunications, and project management.
