After use, items that can be reprocessed are returned to the decontamination area to start the process all over again, it is important to note that at each step in the process, items are inspected to ensure that they are clean, in good repair, assembled, and processed correctly. Sterile Processing Techs are also involved in the record keeping and tracking process across many different functions of their jobs. They must provide properly processed products when they are needed.
