We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate K-5 Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive a quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. This role involves working collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create and implement effective educational programs.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional materials to meet the individual needs of students.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to ensure all students can access the curriculum and make progress.
- Assess students' skills and learning needs, and monitor their progress regularly.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, MTSS team and families to create a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and life skills as needed.
- Implement positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) to promote appropriate behavior and create a positive classroom environment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students’ progress and development.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and continuously seek to improve teaching methods.Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or regular education degree, willing to work towards special ed degree
- Valid ND teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education.
- Experience working with students in a K-5 setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of IDEA, ADA, and ND-specific special education regulations.
- Strong understanding of different learning disabilities, developmental disorders, and effective teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
