- Develop/maintain all aviation related documentation to meet company standards and contractual requirements for compliance.
- Gain deep understanding of products and services, and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging content.
- Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of target audience, turning insights into language for user/operator success.
- Develop and maintain detailed database of reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications.
- Evaluate current content and develop innovative methods for improvement.
- Work under minimal supervision; proactively develops new material deliverables for ADO review.
- Ability to work in an autonomous settings with minimal supervision; proactively develops new material deliverables and continuously improve current products and process for review.
- Coordinate/participate in internal & external stakeholder requirements/approvals; including annual Government inspections.
- Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements.
- Gather information from various stakeholders and subject-matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
- Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage.
- Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that adhere to organizational and contractual standards and allow for easy data migration.
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent voice across all documentation.
- Foster a culture of safety and compliance within the aviation and mission operations team.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and drive operational excellence.
- Other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
- Two or more years of experience as an effective technical writer within the aviation/aerospace field.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
- Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for department of defense programs of record.
- Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience in working with engineers to improve user experience (ex: design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Highly proficient in the use of common business software applications (MS Office Suite).
- Keen attention to detail and ability to track deliverable timelines and project completion.

- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, or a related technical field, or
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the DoD/GOCO Aviation industry.
- Firm understanding of SDLC (systems development lifecycle)
- Previous experience in software development.
- Professional certification (ex: Society for Technical Communication)
- Experience in using XML tools to create documentation.
- Experience in leading functional/cross functional initiatives.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, schedule, and organize completion of multiple tasks simultaneously according to importance of projects or tasks assigned.
- Ability to understand and apply company practices, policies, and procedures to conduct assigned tasks.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively, tactfully, and respectfully.
- Prior experience within U.S. Air Force, Wing Level Standardization & Evaluation Office.
- Demonstrated experience as Technical Writer and/or Illustrator on DoD Airborne ISR weapon system.
- Able to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings for conversion into TO compatible line drawings.
- Knowledge/experience with graphics design/management software, including AutoCAD.
- Perform conversions of halftones (photographs) into line drawings and prepare exploded views of equipment to be used in parts breakdowns and for disassembly/assembly instructions.
- Experience using Costpoint and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of DCAA Compliant Timekeeping Standards.
- Ability or eligibility to qualify for Instructor and Evaluator Pilot Qualification.
