We are a fast-growing energy efficiency program implementor in the northeast, with a huge focus on electrification and heat pump adoption.Summary/ObjectiveBuilding from its core expertise of administering residential energy efficiency programs, Abode has a fast growing line of business running utility and government programs focused on helping homeowners develop and implement plans to electrify and decarbonize their homes. The Residential Decarbonization Consultant (“RDC”) will conduct on-site assessments, work with homeowners to develop multi-year decarbonization plans, prioritize projects and help them implement these plans. This is a terrific opportunity for someone with a strong background in building science and residential energy efficiency to play a foundational role in scaling programs that help realize the climate impacts of electrification.ResponsibilitiesReporting to a Program Manager and working closely with experienced members of Abode’s decarbonization team, this position will include some or all of the following responsibilities:
- Conduct decarbonization assessments of single and multiple family homes
- Provide assistance to homeowners in implementing decarbonization solutions
- Help develop and improve utility scale decarbonization programs
- Other tasks as assigned by your Manager
- Strong technical expertise in residential building science and energy efficiency, as evidenced by:
- a degree in building science, mechanical engineering, sustainability or other related fields, and/or
- industry certifications such as HERS, PHIUS BPI, LEED, or other related credentials
- Previous experience in and knowledge of building science obtained through work in utility energy efficiency programs, home improvement contracting, or other related businesses.
- Demonstrated aptitude for learning industry jargon and technical content and translating it into clear, concise, digestible information.
- Previous experience in an advisory, educational, or customer service role providing advice or assistance to residential customers.
- Familiarity with navigating government or utility incentive programs.
- Previous experience working as a home improvement contractor or engaging with such contractors.
- Effective oral and written communications skills; both 1:1 and in making presentations to groups. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese as well as English would be a plus.
- Demonstrated aptitude in quickly learning and working with software such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and energy modeling tools such as Ekotrope or Snugg Pro.
- Calm, even temperament suited to meeting people with different needs and backgrounds where they are.
- Adaptable, flexible, collaborative team player that brings a positive can-do attitude.
- A self-starter, able to proactively manage competing demands and changing schedules to complete tasks in a timely and diligent manner.
