DescriptionAre you searching for a temporary opportunity that allows you to manufacture a variety of signs, stickers, and banners utilized in traffic control and City facilities? If so, consider applying for the Assistant Sign Fabricator position with the Public Works Department!The Assistant Sign Fabricator position is a temporary role (no benefits) with a preferred hiring rate of $14.63 per hour. This position requires availability of up to 40 hours or less per week during normal business hours Monday through Friday, excluding City-observed holidays; however, the exact schedule is flexible based on the selected candidate's availability and business needs. The position is anticipated to last at least six (6) months, and the exact end date will be determined at a later time.In the Assistant Sign Fabricator position, you'll:
  • Assist with the sign shop workflow, equipment, and records;
  • Proof, trim, sort, assemble, and distribute printed signage by cutting, weeding, taping, and preparing a variety of substrates;
  • Apply vinyl graphics to a variety of substrates;
  • Assist with periodic inventory of sign shop materials and clean and organize the workshop;
  • Assist the Sign Graphics Designer and Fabricator with projects as needed;
  • Operate a city vehicle in the performance of job duties.
Physical Requirements: This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, and some heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience in graphic design, manufacturing, or a related field preferred but not required.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • The ability to make simple arithmetic computations and to compute rates, ratios, and percentages;
  • The ability to read measuring devices and apply field measurements to digital concepts;
  • Proficiency with computers and office software.
