Lab Technician (Elastomer)

- Handle all incoming elastomer receivables (raw materials) from outside vendors and Son-Aero mix batches by logging them into the database, assigning lot numbers (if applicable), and maintaining shelf-life records.
- Verify purchase order requirements and process paperwork.
- Read and interpret material standards and specifications.
- Perform ASTM test methods by utilizing lab test equipment and measurement tools.
- Coordinate outside testing for test methods exceeding lab capabilities.
- Write material qualification and acceptance test reports.
- Process materials or parts received that do not meet purchase order requirements by contacting the vendor or outside processor.
- Request documentation corrections or missing documentation from vendors.
- Perform shelf-life extension testing as required by customer or Son-Aero requirements.
- Participate in AS9100 and customer audits where applicable.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, lot traceability, and shelf-life management.
- ASTM elastomer test methods and their use.
- Operation of lab test equipment - tensiometer, lab mill, lab press, lab oven, compression set fixtures, aging blocks, burn test chamber, salt fog chamber.
- Basic math skills and formulas as required per customer and industry specifications.
- Preferred (Not Required) Areas of Knowledge
- Color matching of inorganic polymers per FED-STD-595
- Elastomer ingredients and compound formulation
