Job Purpose:Our Overhead Door & Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for:Building Maintenance: Responsible for routine maintenance, repairs, modifications, and replacement of systems, including hardware, environmental systems, utility systems and structures for commercial buildings and camps.Overhead Door: Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and preventive maintenance of various styles of commercial industrial doors and door operating systems, primarily overhead doors.The successful candidate must be able to follow all company, client, safety, and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines as they relate to this position and the work duties being performed.The position is located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals are provided while in Prudhoe Bay.Essential Job Functions (Building Maintenance):· Performs basic HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and electrical work.· May procure parts and materials to support these functions through the computerized material and job order systems.· Isolates and identifies maintenance problems requiring work by specific craft journeyman.· May also perform janitorial duties as required.· Uses computerized ordering system to purchase parts and supplies.· Repairs and/or replaces plumbing fixtures, piping, small appliances (washers and dryers), janitorial equipment, exercise equipment and envirovac systems.· Performs minor mechanical, carpentry, and basic electrical work applications (ballasts, switches, receptacles, etc.).· Analyzes, diagnoses and repairs items identified above, and other equipment as needed.· Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and performs complete rebuilding of washers and dryers.· Access the organization job order system and create job orders.· Attend safety meetings and training sessions required by organization.· Routinely operate Worley/client light and/or medium duty vehicles.· Safely climb ladders of various heights.Essential Job Functions (Overhead Door):· Installs, maintains, and performs preventive maintenance of various styles of doors and door operating systems· Modifies existing doors and operating systems to comply with current fire and buildings codes· May be responsible for direct purchase of parts from vendors and manufacturers· Performs man lift operations and standard rigging, including rigging hand signals· Calculates balance, weight, and cable lengths.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Building Maintenance):· Demonstrates strong plumbing, mechanical, carpentry and appliance repair/replace abilities.· Knowledge of and proficient in carpentry, painting, mechanics, electrical/controls, and pipefitting/plumbing crafts.· Able to read and interpret technical manuals.· Ability to maintain maintenance records.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Overhead Door):· Skilled in scissor lift / man lift operation and standard rigging practices including rigging hand signals.· Ability to calculate balance, weight, and cable lengths.· Ability to work with minimal supervision.· Experience with direct purchase of parts from vendors and manufacturers.Additional Job Functions, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:· Ability to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments.· Capable of working with minimal supervision.· Ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively with alternate, supervision and fellow workers and demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.· Demonstrate and promote safe work practices and adhere to company and client safety policies and procedures for work performed, including proper hazard recognition and mitigation of task and accept accountability for safe work practices.· Attend safety meetings and training sessions required by organization.Physical Demand/Work Environment:Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:· Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.· Standing for prolonged periods of time.· Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather· Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.· Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.· Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.· Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.· Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.· Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.· Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.This job description is intended to describe the nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.Preferred Qualifications:· Three years' experience installing commercial/industrial overhead doors.· Four (4) years’ experience in building maintenance in an industrial or commercial environment or relevant is preferred.· Five (5) years of experience with commercial overhead door service and repair.· State of Alaska Electrical Journeyman Fitness certificate.
