Position Title: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)Job Summary: The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is the senior executive responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of nursing services in a skilled nursing facility. The CNO collaborates with other members of the executive team to ensure the delivery of high-quality resident care, compliance with regulatory standards, and achievement of organizational goals. Additionally, the CNO fosters a culture of excellence, innovation, and professional development among nursing staff while promoting a safe and supportive environment for residents.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for nursing services, collaborating with the CEO and executive team to develop and implement organizational goals, objectives, and policies.
  • Oversee the delivery of nursing care to residents, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement nursing quality improvement initiatives, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of care delivery processes and outcomes.
  • Direct the recruitment, hiring, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of nursing staff, promoting a positive work culture and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, nurse managers, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement resident care plans, treatment protocols, and discharge planning processes.
  • Monitor and analyze nursing staffing levels, skill mix, and workload patterns to optimize staffing resources and ensure resident safety and satisfaction.
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, medical staff, residents, families, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders, addressing concerns and fostering effective communication.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing nursing practice, healthcare delivery, and quality assurance.
  • Oversee nursing budget development, financial management, and resource allocation, in collaboration with the finance department and other stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations, reimbursement policies, and industry trends, advocating for nursing interests and adapting organizational strategies accordingly.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required; Master's degree in nursing or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 -6 years of progressive leadership experience in nursing management, with at least 3-5 years of experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proven track record of strategic planning, organizational development, and change management.
  • Experience in budget development, financial management, and resource allocation.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, physicians, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, make sound decisions, and drive results.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and ethical conduct.
  • Membership in professional organizations such as the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) or American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) preferred.
