Besides providing excellent healthcare services, Preston Memorial also is a strong contributor to the county’s economic status as it is the third largest employer in Preston County.SUMMARY: Clinical Therapists assist patients in developing the skills and thought patterns needed to overcome unhealthy or maladaptive behaviors; assisting patients in developing healthier thought patterns and behaviors.The Clinical Therapist's responsibilities include helping patients understand their behaviors, teaching patients how to change their responses to unfavorable situations and assisting patients in developing healthier coping mechanisms. Develop strategies for the stability of quality services when clients experience transitions. Create personalized exercises and homework assignments to help patients adjust their thought patterns. Help patients address unhealthy and debilitating behaviors as well as overcome phobias, addictions, and traumas.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A Master's degree in a related field such as Behavioral Science, Psychology, etc.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONSLicensing or certification at the following levels:
Licensed Psychologist, or
Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), or
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or LPC or Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC), or
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
*Non-independent licensed therapists must obtain their independent license within 3 years of employmentEXPERIENCE
Knowledge and experience with behavior therapy models.
At least one (1) year of experience providing one-to-one behavioral service to individuals who engage in severe challenging behavior, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three (3) years of experience in a clinical or community health setting required where experience in developing Skill Acquisition Programs and Behavior Reduction Protocols was the focus, working in the disability field and with state agencies, consumers, and/or organizations, preferred.
