The Department is home to dedicated faculty who focus on health disparities and health equity; social determinants of health, health behavior, health communication; and multilevel health behavior change interventions. The research, teaching, and practice interests of our faculty aim to identify and act upon the complex pathways linking environmental, social, cultural, and biological factors with health status and behavior. As part of the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, the UCI Program in Public Health is dedicated to the achievement of health equity for all populations through research, teaching, service, and public health practice, locally and globally. Championing the principles of evidence-based public health science, the Program's community aspires to understand and impact population-level social, biological, and environmental determinants of health and well-being.Reporting directly to the Chair with a dotted line to the Assistant Dean, the incumbent will work under general direction with a high level autonomy and authority. The incumbent will make recommendations and implement decisions on operational issues affecting the unit. The Administrator is primarily responsible for the administrative and business functions in support of the Department of Health, Society and Behavior. Responsibilities include; management, leadership and oversight of departmental budget, administrative, personnel, contract management, information systems, space and facilities needs and outreach initiatives. The incumbent will work with a research administrator to ensure faculty grants and contracts are administered successfully. The successful incumbent will effectively bring proactive, creative new approaches forward that support the strategic direction of the department. - 8-10 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
- Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
- Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
- Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
- Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
- Ability to be a problem-solver by researching issues and trouble-shooting; pro-active and independent thinker who can collaborate
- Master's degree preferred
