Our TeamWe have an amazing opportunity to join our Corporate Tax Team. The Senior Tax Accountant supports comprehensive business group income tax needs including rate case support, tax provision, tax return preparation and tax planning for the Eversource System. Also supports SEC, FERC, and other regulatory reporting obligations. Computes and analyzes all income taxes recorded on the corporate books and presented in the budget, forecast and monthly projection processes. Individual may assist in leading or coordinating assignments.The role is based in Berlin, CT.Essential FunctionsComputing monthly income tax expenses for both federal and state jurisdictions including projection estimates.Allocating by company the tax expense to current and deferred line itemsPreparing and filing federal and state income tax returns.Preparing estimated federal and state tax payments.Assisting in the coordination of the investigative activities for all federal and state auditors, regulatory auditors, and outside auditors.Analyzing as requested, the income taxes presented on the corporate books, budgets or forecasts for management, regulatory reports, rate case presentations or outside inquiries.Providing necessary information and guidance to generate income tax expenses for rate cases, budgets, forecasts, and the corporate financial model.Preparing all pages referring to taxes for state and federal regulatory reports.Provide assistance, maintaining the accuracy of data processing programs dealing with income taxes.QualificationsKnowledge of federal and state statutes and regulations pertaining to income taxes.Knowledge of tax laws and requirements pertaining to corporate taxes.Strong knowledge of basic accounting theory.Strong knowledge of functional accounting practices and procedures.Solid understanding of accounting research techniques.Other preferred KnowledgeKnowledge of tax provisionsGAAPSEC RegulationsInternal AuditSkillsQuantitative and qualitative analysisStrong functional understanding of computerized accounting systemsDemonstrated skill with MS Office applications (specifically Word and Excel)Ability to multitask and shift among multiple prioritiesPossess communication skillsDemonstrates initiative and personal ambition to continue to learn and develop professionallyAbility to use and apply sound judgmentEducationA bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or closely related field required.A master’s level degree and/or CPA designation a plus.Experience8+ years relevant experiencePrefer experience in a corporate and/or public accounting environment.Working ConditionsOur hybrid schedule is 90 days in the office and then move to hybrid flexible schedule.Required to work storm program when needed.Compensation and BenefitsEversource offers a competitive total rewards program.
