Job DescriptionRituals is rapidly growing. We are steadily expanding in new territories, opening new stores and growing our online presence. Think globally (EU, Asia, Middle East), think opening over 200 new stores per year. With this growth, our quality ambitions are growing as well.The quality department is responsible for ensuring the performance of the Rituals assortment, product specifications, and that all products surpass predefined quality standards prior to market introduction. In addition, the team ensures that all products are proven to comply with its country of operations legal legislation. The quality department actively manages, in close cooperation with our suppliers and internal stakeholders, to continuously provide the best quality products to our current and future customers worldwide.In this position, you:
  • Report to sr. Manager Quality Assurance as a part of the sourcing, quality and regulatory department;
  • Take part in a cross-functional team managing their own product category (quality, sourcing, innovation, supply planning);
  • Mentor/coach a fellow (sr.) quality specialist, offering guidance and support whenever required;
  • Act as a first point of contact for suppliers, internal departments and (international) Rituals sales organization with respect to own product category.
YOUR ACCOUNTABILITIESWhen it comes to Professional Development, you:
  • Keep up with relevant developments relating to own product category, exchange knowledge with others and translate knowledge in smart proposals and ways of working;
  • Lead global processes within own product category, working with and providing direction to the sourcing and innovations team to drive compliance to agreed ways of working and product performance standards;
  • Take part in cross-functional project teams to support delivery of Rituals' quality strategy commitments;
  • Act as business ambassador protecting all quality and product compliance requirements.
When it comes to New Product Development, you:
  • Define relevant performance criteria, create and maintain the resulting product and packaging specifications;
  • Define and approve all necessary packaging component testing (test protocol);
  • Agree on clear product specifications with our suppliers and include material standards, functionality testing, construction and components in adherence with our quality standards;
  • Perform technical analysis of new packaging designs and provide feedback to project teams with respect to design viability. Also identifying possible risks and solutions to resolve technical problems, minimizing changes to the design intent;
  • For key launches: initiate, monitor, and approve filling line and transit trials and implement remedial actions as appropriate.
Furthermore, documentation is an important aspect of this position. You:
  • Manage good technical data records - project data, specifications (eg. Bills of Material), test results and ensure the correct input of data into our ERP system;
  • In collaboration with suppliers, compose and approve AQL range boards for individual packaging components and final products.
QualificationsHigh on energy, low on ego and with a of little bit humour. Besides that you have:
  • A Bachelor's Degree / Master's Degree in science or technology, or equivalent in knowledge, experience and training (packaging/design/industrial engineering, chemistry);
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a R&D/Quality Assurance/Technology role in the specific industry of specialism (i.e. FMCG, cosmetic packaging, cosmetics, home/air care products, detergents);
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, a good command of the English language is essential;
  • Experience in briefing and specifying requirements for developed products, working with own team and supplier to create clear specification packs;
  • Strong project management and planning skills;
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to analyze root cause, find solutions and to make things simple;
  • Strong communication skills within ability to work as a team player showing respect, support and discipline.
  • A positive drive and eye for detail.
Furthermore, you are:
  • Familiar with NPD processes, preferably in the cosmetics or FMCG field;
  • Flexible, multi-tasked orientated, working towards tight deadlines while maintaining entrepreneurialism, managing multiple projects and stakeholders;
  • A supervisor and co-worker, self-starter, solution-oriented and accurate;
  • In the possession of a driver's license.
