At STERIS, we help our Customers create a healthier and safer world by providing innovative healthcare and life science product and service solutions around the globe.Position SummaryThis position is accountable for developing and executing global procurement strategies aligned with business needs for a multi-site sourcing and purchasing organization. Incumbent will manage existing supplier relationships, identify new sources of supply as needed, communicate regularly with senior leaders, execute joint collaborative initiatives, and lead supplier contract negotiations.Responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of the product life cycle management. including understanding market demands, technology trends, and the competitive landscape. Responsible for setting the strategic product roadmap, providing input to product development, establishing marketing, pricing, and launch strategies to optimize share and margin across the portfolio.Works closely with sales, marketing and procurement to increase revenue and profitability, evaluates material and production resources supporting the product lines, and identifies market trends and needs for the global platform of products to ensure product designs are matched to customer demand.Responsible for the development, execution and continuous analysis and improvement of effective global category sourcing strategies that result in improved KPI's. Understands at an expert level the needs of the business, global supply chain, market environments, and technical requirements of the Customer to effectively work across functions, business units and suppliers to create strategies that mitigate supply chain risk and leverage procurement spend to meet business objectives.Duties
  • Lead a multi-site global procurement organization focused on supply planning, existing vendor management, purchasing, procurement, and inbound logistics
  • Lead Product Management function and ensure alignment between product development initiatives and sourcing strategy
  • Lead Key Surgical Marketing function to ensure alignment between marketing and sourcing strategy
  • Interface directly with senior leadership to assure company objectives are met, including quality, service, reliability, and fulfillment.
  • Develop, execute, and continuously analyze and improve upon global category strategies focused on the current needs and future objectives of the business.
  • Rationalize the supply base in terms of category strategy to reduce cost and risk and improve leverage of overall procurement spend.
  • Analyze data and/or insights to determine and anticipate global industry and market trends; use determinations to develop long-term strategies for improved portfolio performance.
  • Anticipate, analyze and resolve complex supply challenges while maintaining effective communication with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Identify new and develop existing supplier relationships through comprehensive supplier relationship management strategies, resulting in year-over-year improvements.
  • Link sourcing and procurement processes to continuous improvement opportunities in planning, customer voice, and the ability to address supplier constraints and opportunities.
  • Understand operational considerations. Identify business demand requirements and partner with leadership to support the delivery of annual value improvements ,drive competitive advantage and reduce inventory
  • Financial and budget responsibility for global procurement including communicating a forecast for areas of responsibility and aligning procurement with the financial plan.
  • Oversight and management of purchasing in Eden Prairie and Lensahn
  • Oversight and management of backorder process for the Key Surgical portfolio
Required Experience
  • MBA or supply chain related Masters degree strongly preferred.
  • 15 years related sourcing, purchasing or procurement experience
  • Minimum 10 years management experience
  • Solid organizational and project management skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid working knowledge and proficiency in ERP/MRP systems;
  • Experience and understanding of Lean Manufacturing
  • Prior marketing experience preferred
  • Prior supply chain/operations experience within the medical industry is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting contracts, leading supplier negotiations and RFIs/RFPs
  • Demonstrated collaboration and influencing skills
  • Strong project and time management skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
  • Intimate knowledge and understanding of various procurement methods, strategic sourcing and supply chain practices & strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing continuous improvement methods (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S)
  • Subject matter expert within material categories, market places, indexes and trends arena
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ERP software (Oracle strongly preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
