We offer our guests a unique dining experience and have are passionate about ensuring quality dining under the warm glow of pine cone lamps and stylish interior design. The name of our restaurant is Rakas, which is Finnish for beloved, and perfectly describes our understanding of what great food should be - local food with love.Restaurant Sommelier plays a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience by offering expert guidance and ensuring the availability of quality wines that complement the cuisine and meet customers preferences. They work closely with the Kitchen and the Waitering team to ensure extraordinary dining experiences. Duties include:- Excellent customer service- Beverage serving with a good understanding of the menu items- Assist customers in selecting wines that complement their food choices- Pairing food and wine- Wine list management- Purchasing, storing and inventory- Wine education for the staff (wine knowledge, service techniques, and proper wine presentation)- Wine tasting and evaluation- Organize and host wine-tasting eventsGeneral requirements- You have a passion for wines- Hygiene and alcohol pass- Suitable educational background (e.g. Bartender, WSET degree or another Sommelier certificate)- Previous experience in the field- Knowledge of different grape varieties, wine regions and vintages- You have an eye for details- Capable of completing work tasks independently as well as working in a team- Ability to take responsibility and maintain the highest level of standards- Good communication skills- Fluent English language- Ability to legally work in FinlandConsidered as an advantage- Motivation to learn and improve your professionalism- Ability to read different situations and adapt to them- Additional languagesWhat to expect:- Job-specific work training prior to the start of the season- A fun international work environment- A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work in the capital of Finnish Lapland- Monthly salary (+supplements, holiday compensation)- Collective Agreement for the Hotel, Restaurant and Leisure Industry (Sundays and official holidays are double paid in Finland)- Flexible working hours from Monday to Sunday with alternating days off- Average work hours 112,5 h/3 week (full-time worker)- Day and evening shifts- Company benefits (check the career page) ( )- Supported accommodationPlease send your application below and attach your CV with a picture; we look forward to it!
