- Oversee & work in the day-to-day accounting operations including:
- accounts payable and receivable
- payroll
- calculate and record depreciation
- general ledger maintenance
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with ownership to develop and maintain financial budgets, forecasts, and business plans that align with the companies' unique vision and goals.
- Analyze financial data, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization and revenue growth.
- Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls.
- Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and provide recommendations to optimize financial resources.
- Prepare and review sales and use tax filings, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
- Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering their professional growth and development within the entrepreneurial setting.
- Oversee month close and year end activities.
- Participate in semester planning.
- Responsible for completion of team outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4-5 year's experience as an Accountant or Senior Accountant, preferably in a start-up or entrepreneurial environment.
- Proven experience as an Accountant or Senior Accountant, with a strong background in job costing for construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices, including job costing methodologies.
- 2+ years of QuickBooks Experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations (GAAP).
- Proficient in using accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic start-up environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial guidance and support to entrepreneurs.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
