- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining Terracon's established quality standards on all projects.
- Mid-level scientific professional responsible for gathering data and assembling information to be evaluated and analyzed independently and by other team members.
- Perform site visits, field observations and field data collection either alone or with a team.
- Participate in field studies related to wetland and watercourse delineation, stream assessments, and wildlife studies.
- Perform testing and sampling of ecological systems in the Midwest including wetlands, streams, lakes, riparian areas, and grasslands.
- Perform visual assessments of habitats that may be utilized by species listed under the Endangered Species Act.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan and permit projects.
- Prepare concise and accurate written reports using data collected in the field.
- Draft written task orders and proposals for small to medium-sized projects and assist with portions of proposals on larger projects.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with staff and clients regarding specific projects/tasks.
- Completion of some projects will require travel and working outside of standard office hours and days.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Biology, Geography, Geology or related natural science field and a minimum 3 years of related field experience.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
- Wetland Delineation according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers methods.
- At least 3 years of field experience with wetland delineations, stream assessments, habitat and species assessments.
- Preparation of Categorical Exclusions and Environmental Assessments in accordance with NEPA (Lead or Supporting Preparer is acceptable)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Beginner or Intermediate GIS
- Working understanding of Section 404 CWA, Section 7 ESA and Section 106 NHPA consultations
