- Student Discipline and Behavioral Intervention
- Helps establish a student culture of respect, virtue, integrity, and citizenship in accordance with the school's mission and vision
- Develop and administer disciplinary procedures in accordance with state law and school policy, mission and vision
- Oversee day-to-day disciplinary issues in the school, working closely with faculty and staff to ensure compliance with school policies
- Openly communicate with staff and parents/guardians regarding student behavior in a timely manner
- Assist in the planning , developing, and implementation of student behavior plans
- Keep accurate documentation and records regarding disciplinary infractions and consequences
- Prepare required reports and documentation regarding student discipline as required by state law
- Review class rosters and student schedules paying close attention to group dynamics and any potential issues such as gender imbalance
- Monitoring classroom management and in-class student discipline
- Faculty Supervision, Training, and Support
- Assists staff with the creation and alignment of classroom student behavioral expectations and classroom management plans
- Serve as an instructional resource for behavioral intervention and classroom management techniques
- Assists teachers with behavior management plans and strategies
- Oversee the discipline documentation process and train faculty in appropriate record-keeping procedures regarding student discipline
- Conduct teacher observations and evaluations with a focus on classroom management and organization
- Supervises and evaluates the performance of designated personnel in relation to classroom management, organization, student discipline and character development; assigns duties to faculty and staff as appropriate to meet school objectives
- Identifies areas of needed growth related to student discipline, student culture, and student activities and leads professional development within the school related to these areas
- Leading and managing a team of student-facing administrators and coordinators
- Mentoring junior and veteran teachers in classroom management and discipline
- Developing, coordinating, and implementing professional development
- Conducting teacher observations and evaluations
- Student Culture and Activities
- Oversee new student induction and orientation for successful transition into school culture
- Oversee student activities, house system, extracurricular activities, clubs, and other competitive or performance programs and events
- Oversee house system and heads of house. Heads of house obtain approval from and collaborate with the Dean of Students regarding all house events
- Oversee the sorting of upper school students into Houses
- Manages club application process and approves student clubs in accordance with school policy
- Oversees club sponsors and club activities
- Approves and oversees club, athletic, and fine arts fundraising activities in collaboration with relevant school staff
- Overseeing extra-curricular programs
- Planning and facilitating after school activities (dances, clubs, etc.)
- Student Attendance
- Monitor student attendance and work with parents, teachers, registrar, and other parties as needed to resolve individual attendance or truancy issues
- Communicate with parents and students regarding excessive absence or attendance concerns
- Assist in the planning, developing, and implementation of attendance plans
- Collaboration
- Assists the Headmaster in running the school
- Serves on the Site Executive Team
- Supports the Headmaster with enrollment/registration
- Assists the Headmaster in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting new faculty and staff
- Makes recommendations concerning the revision and updating of family handbooks, student guidelines, school rules and procedures, and other rules and regulations
- De facto member of faculty and staff committees related to student affairs (discipline, house system, etc)
- Facilitating community outreach events
- Talent acquisition and retention
- Teach/Co-teach at least one class at the school
- A Bachelor's Degree, and preferably a Master's Degree in a related field from a fully accredited college
- Previous experience in classical education is preferred but not required
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to communicate with students, staff and guardians in a professional manner
