Pre-Production Quality Engineer (2020664)Pontiac, MIHRU Technical Resources is seeking a Pre-Production Quality Engineer to assist a large, multinational automotive corporation in Pontiac, MI.Type of Role: 12-month Contract Role (Temp to direct hire OR extension)Schedule: 1st shift ONSITE (9/80 schedule)Compensation: $38.00-$40.00HRBenefits: Health, Dental, Vision, 401k. PTO, Holiday PayDescription: Pre-Production Operations builds proto-type vehicles. These vehicles are used by our Product Engineering teams to validate the product and Manufacturing teams to develop the manufacturing processes. The Quality engineer utilizes problem solving methodologies to support proto-type vehicle build activities. The QE evaluates issues to determine preliminary root cause, establishes issue ownership (Design, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, PPO) and supports the overall issue resolution process. The QE will engage with global and cross functional teams on a regular basis.Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical assistance to Pre-Production technicians.
  • Acts as a liaison between PPO and engineering, manufacturing engineering and suppler quality issues during the proto-type build phase.
  • Conducts easel board meetings by leading teams through the global issue resolution process
  • Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
  • Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
  • Leads easel board review meetings and participates in Issue Resolution Team (IRT) meetings.
  • Interacts with Suppliers and leads containment efforts for Supplier Quality issues including acceptance of 5 phases and submitting cost recovery documentation
  • Ability to read and comprehend blue prints, GD&T, math data and other engineering documentation
  • Ability to read and understand CMM, FARO, Scan reports and other types of critical data as it relates to engineering design and supplier components/sub-assemblies
  • Complete work assignments required within budget, manpower and timing constraints.
  • Support plant in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness and Cost goals.
  • Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
  • Maintain schedule and quality requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • 4-5 years experience in a engineer role
  • Oral and written communication skills and comfortable presenting to large groups and varying levels of management
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills
