Zoox is looking for a leader for our IT Datacenter Operations team. On-premise computing, including AI, is key in enabling our autonomous vehicle research effort. The team you'll be managing supports this across the company. In this role, you will closely work with partners from many teams. We have a strong collaborative culture where we value people first.In this role, you will:
  • Manage and grow the IT Datacenter Operations team. This is responsible for designing, validating, procuring, instantiating, and maintaining our IT compute and network infrastructure located inside our datacenters.
  • Assume responsibility for activities “inside the cage” as a tenant; this is not a facilities role
  • Ensure the growth and development of the members of your team.
  • Facilitate the success of your team members.
  • Expand the overall DC roadmap to improve the scale and reliability of IT platform infrastructure.
  • Manage multiple strategic and tactical projects, as well as oversee daily maintenance activities.
  • Support our procurement organization with contract renewals and negotiations.
  • Frequently reexamine priorities and make adjustments to deliver initiatives on-time and within budget..
  • Collaborate with teams' that perform software development and research, machine learning, SRE support, corporate applications, and hybrid cloud
  • Drive the evolution of the Zoox DCs model to scale with the size and complexity of Zoox' R&D and corporate needs.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of management experience, leading teams of 5 or more people.5+ years of related technical experience in one or more key areas: hardware in colocation environments (required), high performance computing, coordinating with manufacturers and external vendors, server and storage technology, incident managementStrong 24x7 infrastructure mindset, with demonstrable prior experience in datacenter environments and server hardwareAbility to plan complex DC builds, migrations, and drawdowns (as a tenant).Excellent communication skills, collaborating with both technical and non-technical
with GPU based computing is a major plus.CompensationThere are three major components to compensation for this position: pay, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The pay range for this position is $179,000 to $260,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.
