- Application of the nursing process in assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating patients and patient care.
- Identifying and providing for physical, emotional, and developmental client/patient needs.
- Counseling and providing health teaching to patients and their families; explaining the procedures planned for the patient. Assist departments with educational needs assessments for AAC staff and departments.
- Develop educational curricula for AAC staff/departments meeting AAC standards, accreditation requirements, and state and federal regulations.
- Implement educational curricula for AAC staff in both classroom and real-time clinical settings as needed to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
- Evaluate adoption of educational curricula into workflows and practices by AAC staff and provide appropriate follow-up as needed.
- Coordinate with nursing leaders and nursing preceptors to evaluate progress of new hire nurses.
- Perform research to aid in development of educational material/courses, assist with policy and procedure development, and enhance practices of care and safety performed by AAC staff.
- Maintain knowledge of best-practices, evidenced base research, accreditation requirements, and scopes of practice.
- Establish practice of Grand Rounds for continued education of AAC staff
- Develops patient care plans, incorporating evidenced-based research and national standards; consults with and serves as a resource to ensure quality client care.
- Educates appropriate AAC staff in the use of equipment, supplies, and resources through classroom and real time learning opportunities.
- Provides direct specialized nursing services to an assigned group of clients, providing specialized patient care within nursing protocols and assisting in the performance of all related nursing duties.
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Following Universal Precautions and Infection Control Procedures.
- Ability to establish communication with appropriate sources in response to emergency situations.
- Providing for and respecting the patient’s privacy and confidentiality.
- Notifying appropriate persons promptly of unusual reactions and changes in conditions.
- Documenting all pertinent information appropriately.
- Receiving and giving report.
- Safeguarding and inventorying equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrating courteous, cooperative, and respectful behavior.
- With the education and/or documented skills, may perform certain treatments/procedures, provided that the institution’s policies and the state/provincial regulatory acts allow their performance such as venipuncture and initiation and/or administration of IV therapy.
- Ability to obtain information and interpret this information in terms of the client/patient’s needs.
- Knowledge of growth and development.
- Assess and interpret age-specific data.
- Understand of the range of treatments needed by these patients and possess the skills to perform the treatments.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Current RN license in the State of Operation is required; license must be in active/good standing.
- ASN or BSN required.
- CPR and First Aid Certified
- Minimum three years clinical experience required
- Minimum two years recent Infection Control experience
- Minimum two years of experience in a health care setting
- Knowledge of addiction and drug treatment preferred
- Prolonged sitting at a desk
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time
