Position SummaryUNM Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) has an opening for a Manager, Public Transport Operations. The successful candidate will oversee a team of Bus Drivers and Field Supervisors. Our transportation team transports students, faculty, staff and visitors. As one of the first University departments encountered by many guests and visitors, our employees play an important role in the University's community outreach efforts and public relations.The successful candidate will be responsible for over 40 employees and will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to make our shuttle system more effective and efficient. The person in this position is considered a certified professional and has tremendous day-to-day responsibility which requires specialized skills and training. This individual must possess strong leadership and organizational development skills and have experience in management of transportation operations, budget oversight, managing multiple short and long-term projects, and excellent written and oral communication skills.Our commitment to our customers includes giving the highest degree of safe, reliable, helpful, and friendly transportation and customer service.   • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in management and supervision of at least 20 or more employees in a unionized and/or higher education environment.Demonstrate a broad knowledge of business practices, including strategy, budgeting, and operations.Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills.Exceptional customer service and relationship building skills.Strong, demonstrated skills in working on complex projects that require data analysis and organization.Experience working with high level executives.Evaluate effectiveness of shuttle service.Additional Requirements
