Description:Summary: Administers, monitors and maintains leaves of absence (e.g. family/medical, union medical, personal, military and administrative), ADA, and workers' compensation claims for assigned properties. Ensures compliance with all state and federal laws, company policy and procedures, and collective bargaining contracts regarding leaves of absence.Essential Functions:
  • Determines eligibility for requested leave of absence by checking date of hire and hours worked, and by checking for previous leaves during the past twelve months
  • Notifies employee of eligibility, explains rights covered by FMLA and union medical, and administers STD/LTD or Union Loss of Time information
  • Reviews Certification of Health Care Provider form to determine if the form is complete, and to verify dates
  • Notifies employee in writing of approved leave of absence, makes copies for benefit records and notifies department and payroll of the employee’s absence
  • For short-term and long-term disability claims, completes employer statements, wage verifications and employee enrollment forms and submits the information to the provider
  • Takes phone calls pertaining to leave of absences and workers’ comp, facilitates emergency leaves of absence and verifies eligibility for emergency leaves
  • Audits FMLA/union medical records to ensure that the company is in compliance with state and federal laws, policy and procedures, and provisions of the collective bargaining contracts
  • Enters workers' compensation claims into the TPA online website, completes C3 and submits all relevant information to the TPA
  • Determines if workers' compensation claims should be accepted or denied, if any loss time will result, and reports findings to the TPA
  • Notifies department manager of restrictions pertaining to an employee’s workers’ compensation claim
  • Facilitates light duty positions when available
  • Conducts the ADA interview process with applicable employees; makes recommendations to the Director of Human Resources regarding accommodations
  • Proactively meet with employees to discuss concerns regarding their leave
  • Provide proactive and timely updates to management personnel regarding their respective staff’s LOA, WC, and/or ADA situations
  • Input LOA and WC information into leave tracking system for all properties
  • Verifies Aquarius LOA and WC information for consistent application and accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Prior experience completing Human Resources functions
  • Previous experience in leave of absence administration and workers’ compensation
  • Knowledgeable of ADA compliance preferred
  • Professional certification in Human Resources preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills required
  • Excellent follow up skills required
  • Proven professional experience using tact and compassion while dealing with sensitive issues required
  • Fluency in English, written and verbal
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office, Infinium and Kronos
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws, company policy and procedures and union contracts is preferred
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
