- Interpret blueprints, completion drawings, company standards, and work instructions.
- Perform calculations using shop math for tooling, detailed parts, assembles, and installations.
- Perform sewing or upholstery operations of high quality and within budget.
- Disassemble and reassemble various models of vendor passenger seats and divans in accordance to the guidelines of the vendor component maintenance manuals.
- Perform maintenance such as proper glue application, adhesive bonding, hardware, and rivet installation.
- Train other personnel on specific job assignments.
- Practice proper aircraft maintenance practices.
- Maintain clean and organized work area.
- Complete assignments under budget without sacrificing quality.
- Accurately log computerized labor data collection for time and attendance tracking
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Style a variety of foams to meet specifications/customer requirements.
- Layout, match, cut, and sew various routine and non-routine sewing operations, including exotic fabrics such as plaids, stripes, diamond patterns and floral designs to produce symmetry in appearance.
- Develop patterns from prints, sketches, models, and verbal instructions.
- Inspect, select, and work with fabrics, leathers, foams, and other materials used in the performance of job assignments.
- Fabricate and upholster all soft goods including but not limited to aircraft seats (fabrication and cover), divans, service ledges, side walls, headliners, and window panels.
- Set up and operate all equipment, such as routers, sanders, sewing machines, etc.
- Recommend improved production methods, including the reduction of rework, process improvements, and flow reduction.
- Work with limited supervision on routine and non-routine assignments.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of aircraft upholstery experience.
- Able to setup and operate all standard equipment related to upholstery.
- Able to work from documentation such as 3D models, blueprints, drawings, F-standards, preparation packages, etc.
- Must not be allergic to chemicals, solvents, paints, adhesives, natural or manmade materials, fabrics, or feathers.
- Able to distinguish colors and align intricate or elaborate designs in fabrics.
- Able to lift and transport up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
- Visual capacity and muscular dexterity to work on fine detail, high-cost products with a minimum of rework.
- Able to wear protective equipment for extended periods of time including, particle masks, goggles, assorted gloves, head bonnets, and disposable protective suits.
- Able to stock and remove materials from bins above storage level with or without reasonable accommodation
- Able to climb in and out of aircraft and perform work in tight or confined places and unusual positions.
