DescriptionSummary:Operates all Cath lab equipment and digital processing equipment. Performs all Cath lab duties such as scrub assistant, X-ray equipment operation and digital processing as indicated. Contributes to the general operation of the department by picking up supplies, stocking supplies, and keeping the work area orderly. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development to perform procedures on and assist in the care of the adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient. A current state issued Radiology Technology license will be required for these individuals prior to employment. Specialization can be obtained in any of the following modalities with training and active participation in all of the following modalities: Diagnostic Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Peripheral Angiography, Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, Automatic Internal Cardiac Defibrillator Implantation.Responsibilities:
  • Observes patient’s condition and always reports immediately and unusual signs, symptoms, or occurrence to nurse or physician.
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of work performed.
  • Assist team members in preparing the patient by thoroughly explaining the procedure in order to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety of the patient.
  • Assist team members in preparing the lab before each case; also, stocking rooms with pertinent supplies at the end of each day. Monitors supply use, charges and availability of supplies. Provides quality radiographic studies during cases by safely demonstrating ability to operate equipment and assures film archiving.
  • Monitors EKG and hemodynamics, prepares appropriate paperwork, and checks consents when assigned as the monitor person during cases.
  • Skillfully communicates with team leader and team members to provide quality care.
  • Participate in specialty areas and new procedures in the cardiology lab as technology changes and advances.
  • Provides leadership and direction in accordance with departmental goals and objectives; attends staff meetings.
  • Monitors needs of patients, families and physicians.
  • Performs Point of Care Testing within scope of licensure; accurately performs testing according to the approved procedure and limits testing to only those tests for which competency has been assessed and operator is deemed qualified by designated trainer.
Requirements:
  • Customer Service/Telephone skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and other departments.
  • At least 1 year of diagnostic, interventional radiology or cath lab experience required.
  • State licensure (LSRT) and national ARRT accreditation required (RT(R)). For new graduates ONLY: Can work with a LSRT permit and must obtain ARRT within 90 days of hire.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification preferred.
