Jr Financial Analyst, Crown Publishing Group (Open to Remote)

- Manage monthly financial closings, including detailed analyses of sales, cost of goods sold, operating expenses, accruals, and title count;
- Create monthly summaries of financial performance and key performance indicators for the Crown and corporate teams;
- Perform quarterly analysis on travel and marketing spend for Crown;
- Assist in preparing formal forecasts for corporate submissions using Anaplan software;
- Generate postmortem analysis of previous acquisitions/publications to help inform editorial decisions;
- Provide analysis to support production staff in making print and reprint decisions;
- Assist marketing staff with updating marketing budgeting systems; and
- Enhance and increase speed of monthly reporting, analysis and business intelligence utilizing software skills such as Microsoft Power BI.
- Strong business and analytical skills, including an understanding of basic financial and accounting principles;
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel (including vlookups and pivot tables) and PowerPoint;
- Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize;
- Attention to detail and accuracy, ideally combined with an ability to see the big picture;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues across all levels and functions;
- Ability to take initiative and to work both independently and as part of a team;
- BS in Accounting/Finance preferred (but will consider candidates from other degree backgrounds with relevant experience and keen interest in the publishing industry);
- Relevant work experience preferred;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI, Anaplan, and SAP preferred; and
- Strong interest in the publishing industry and a love for books are strong pluses.
