Description :Ayres’ River Engineering and Water Resources group is seeking a senior dam engineer with a proven track record of managing and successfully executing dam design and analysis projects. This position desires an entrepreneurial mindset to support our growing our national practice in the area of embankment analyses, global and local stability analyses, FERC Part 12D inspections, comprehensive assessments with risk analyses, and dam construction projects.The successful candidate will be a registered professional engineer in a field related to dam engineering and have demonstrated expertise in completing designs, stability analyses, and field / construction expertise related to embankments, spillways, and other dam structures.On any given day, you’ll:
  • Take the lead in identifying marketing opportunities and work collaboratively to win projects related to state and federally regulated dams.
  • Manage projects, oversee design and production of plans and specifications, and ensure that the work is produced on schedule, profitably, and in conformance with the quality standards of Ayres.
  • Build and maintain respectful working relationships with Project Managers and other leaders within the company.
  • Support and participate in the development and mentorship of staff.
  • Actively engage in professional organizations.
Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil, geological, structural, or other related engineering field from an accredited university is the minimum requirement.
  • Registered professional engineer (PE) in a US state with ability to become licensed by comity in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota.
  • A minimum of eight years of experience in the field of dam engineering. Previous experience in completing designs and submitting approved analyses to regulatory agencies for review is required.
  • Ability to independently manage analyses and dam-related projects with budgets of 250 to 2000 hours of engineering time.
  • Working knowledge of standard US design standards for engineering of dams and dam structures is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Proven communication skills including great client relationships and a willingness to market services to internal and external clients.
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Desired Skills and Experiences:
  • Experience establishing mutually respectful, collaborative relationships with dam owners, contractors, and regulatory agency personnel is desired.
  • A master’s degree or strong history of continued education in the field of embankment dams is preferred.
  • While PE registration is required, additional registration as a professional geologist is highly desirable.
  • Experience with standard industry software for numerical analysis of dams is desired.
