Basic Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily news coverage, working with the News Director to cover local news stories for KACU newscasts, website, social media and newsletter. The Content Manager will also help direct newscast guidance for on-air hosts.
  • Launch an oral history project, collecting individual stories that demonstrate the unique history of West Texas. The Content Manager will coordinate recording dates and locations for rural communities, working with local historical societies, libraries or other community members. The content manager will work to edit the interviews into segments that will air on KACU-FM and be hosted at KACU.org.
  • Plan and execute the weekly talk show in coordination with the News Director, show host and other reporters.
  • Other duties as assigned will include on-air fundraising, events, and special projects.
Essential DutiesResponsibility A
  • Reporting daily and in-depth feature stories
  • Editing audio and mixing stories digitally
  • Transforming broadcast writing into web and newsletter style
Responsibility B
  • Conducting oral history recordings
  • Coordinating with local groups to plan a day of recordings and publicize the event
  • Editing and mixing the recording into segments
Responsibility C
  • Produce KACU's weekly talk show
  • Planning show segments
  • Researching and scheduling guests
  • Coordinating with all partners
Professional Development RequirementsJournalism
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
  • Broadcast writing experience
  • Audio recording experience
  • Audio editing and mixing experience
  • Photography basic knowledge

Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Journalism or related field
  • 2 years of reporting experience preferred
  • Broadcast reporting experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Public Radio
  • Strong work ethic, with ability to self-motivate
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work in a mentoring role with student journalists
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to drive to events and interviews
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and hold recording equipment
