Position Summary: This position primarily monitors, assists and directs students assigned to a computer lab/study hall setting for credit recovery or distance learning during the school day. When not monitoring a computer lab/study hall this position will also provide classroom support in other areas to ensure appropriate student behavior and maintain students’ safety. This individual will work closely with administrators within established guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way to obtain these would be:
  • High school diploma
  • School-related or youth-related experience preferably in an academic setting.
Knowledge of:
  • School District Policy.
  • Policies and procedures related to acceptable student behavior.
  • District organization, operations, policies and objectives.
Ability to:
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Interact in a positive and instructional manner with students.
  • Maintain clear and decisive personal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Understand high school systems and discipline procedures.
  • Provide instructional assistance to students in a high school setting.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Operate a personal computer and related software.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Two years experience interacting with students in a high school setting or supervising/guiding teens.
  • Experience as an academic tutor.
  • Successful-completion of college level academic courses, preferably in education.
Desired qualifications:
  • Successful classroom management experience.
  • Training in chemical use signs, symptoms, and treatment.
Compensation: This is a temporary hourly position, working less than 20 hours per week from June 10 - 21, 2024. The starting salary is $22.97 per hour.
Summer hourly work is entered into soley for the purposes of operating in an hourly position with JSD outside of the instructional school calendar. Summer employees who work more than 15 hours a week between the dates of June 1 - July 31, 2024 will provide services for a term of no more than 30 days within a classificaiton.Selected hire will be fingerprinted at applicant's expense and fingerprints forwarded to the Alaska State Troopers and the FBI for a records check.
