The Supervisor of Coding, Primary Care- Acclaim will have experience in coding for multi-specialty medical group including for primary care, medicine, and surgical, specialties. The Supervisor of Coding - Acclaim will also be responsible for supervision to include hiring, training, and evaluating assigned staff.Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities: * Supervises the process of auditing and monitoring various compliance risks, including HIPAA, billing, coding, and documentation.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to providers and other clinic staff with coding- or billing-related questions.
  • Supports the communication of ongoing recommendations and resources to management for compliance issues, process monitoring, and improvement. Works with specific department leaders and key physician leadership to implement improvements.
  • Applies coding principles that are consistent with government standards as well as payor-specific guidelines.
  • Assists performing data quality reviews on medical records to validate ICD codes, CPT codes, and clinical documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and accrediting agency regulations.
  • Produces quarterly reports for providers that detail coding accuracy in order to determine further documentation education needs.
  • Monitors coding accuracy of physicians and coders for Acclaim professional billing.
  • Monitors workflow of coders and ensures timely turnaround of daily charge capture.
  • Provides coding and documentation training.
  • Produces quarterly ICD coding change reports to assist providers with documentation improvement.
  • Works directly with key physician leadership to assist with organizational documentation improvement.
  • Supports the creation of departmental compliance standards by coordinating input from both the department leader and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as well as research, current practices, and benchmarking.

Qualifications:Required Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in Business, Healthcare, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 plus years' of healthcare coding, compliance, legal, operational, or financial coding experience is required to include experience in coding for a multispecialty medical group, primary care, medicine, and/or surgical specialties.
  • 2 plus years' of experience leading, supervising or managing staff.
OR
  • 7 plus years' of healthcare coding, compliance, legal, operational, or financial coding experience to include experience in coding for a multispecialty medical group, primary care, medicine, and/or surgical specialties may substitute for the required education.
  • 2 plus years' of experience leading, supervising or managing staff.
  • Must have a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certification or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) Certification from an accredited association to include American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) or the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with State of Texas payors preferred.
