- The work week is 5–10-hour days with an occasional Saturday.
- Participate in daily JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis) before beginning work to identify any possible hazards that need addressing prior to the start of work.
- Follow directions from your supervisor or his representative.
- Transport rakes, lutes, shovels, and spray cans to the paver.
- Preparing the pavement saw.
- Sweeping and cleaning in front of the paver.
- Sweeping and raking the deck.
- Directing traffic as a flagger.
- Driving the transport car ahead of the pedestrian vehicles.
- Transport water to the rollers, power brooms, pavement saw, and plate tamps.
- Shoveling material out of the end gate.
- Daily, remove and properly dispose of debris and waste materials.
- Performing General Physical Activities: Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Have a valid Driver’s license.
- Being able to respond to commands while the paver is moving.
- Proven work experience as an asphalt laborer.
- Ability to work as part of a Team.
- Trunk Strength: Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support parts of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing.
- Knowledge of road and traffic regulations.
- 1 Years of experience of means and methods and tools involved in the construction of an asphalt roadway.
- A minimum education of a high school diploma or GED.
