This position is offered as an ongoing Tenure Track position beginning August 10, 2024. The successful candidate will have a commitment to quality undergraduate education.Duties will include:
  • The instruction of a full complement of lectures and seminars as determined by the department workload committee. Specifically, the successful candidate will instruct the building services classes in the ARET program, such as Building Electrical and Lighting Design, Building Plumbing Design, Building Services Theory, and Building HVAC Design.
  • Holding office hours to be available to assist students and answer inquiries related to instruction.
  • Managing grades for seminars and lectures.
  • Maintaining Moodle pages related to lecture and seminar instruction.
  • Participation in ARET outreach activities and field trips.
  • Undertaking regular professional development activities.
  • Participation in committee work at the Department, Faculty of Science, and University levels.
  • Involvement in the intellectual and cultural life of the university and the community.
QUALIFICATIONSQualifications:
  • The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent discipline from a recognized university. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • At least three years of undergraduate teaching experience is required.
  • The candidate should be able to provide evidence of a strong record of teaching excellence.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required.
  • The candidate should be eligible for professional registration as an engineer.
  • Professional work experience on building projects, including experience with the BC Electrical Code, BC Plumbing Code and ASHRAE standards pertaining to HVAC systems would also be an asset.
