- Sales Tax Compliance: Working with Avalara, oversee the, review, and filing of sales tax returns for Ad Populum and its subsidiary companies, ensuring compliance with sales tax regulations in various jurisdictions.
- Sales Tax Reconciliation: Reconcile sales tax filings with general ledger accounts and bank statements, identifying and resolving any discrepancies to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Canada GST/HST Returns: Prepare and file various returns with Canada Revenue Agency.
- Corporation Income Taxes: Working with our outside accounting firms, oversee the review and filing of federal and state tax returns for Ad Populum and its subsidiary companies, ensuring timely filing of returns and tax payments.
- Tax notices: Review and respond to federal and state tax notices and interact with authorities to resolve various matters.
- Member tax distributions: Review calculations prepared by the accounting firm and ensure timely payment to the members of the LLC.
- Audit Support: Assist accounting firms with audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries from tax authorities, and resolving any issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize tax processes, including automation of tax calculations, creation of dashboard reports, and compliance efforts.
- Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with finance, accounting, and operations teams across Ad Populum and its subsidiaries to ensure alignment on tax matters and facilitate efficient tax processes.
- Tax Research: Stay informed about changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings, providing guidance to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for tax savings or optimization.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with external vendors, including tax consultants and software providers, to support tax compliance efforts and leverage technology solutions to enhance tax processes.
- Ad Hoc Projects: Support the CFO and finance leadership on special projects and initiatives related to tax planning, reporting, and compliance across Ad Populum and its subsidiary companies.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or comparable certification preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in corporate income tax and sales tax compliance, preferably in a multi-entity environment with diverse business operations.
- Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience with Avalara sales tax software and ERP systems (preferably Sage X3), as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills, with the ability to analyze complex tax issues and reconcile financial data accurately.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
