A global leader in sustainable material recycling is looking for a Operations Manager to oversee and manage the operations of its regional hub. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader with in-depth experience in profit and loss management and a strong grasp of heavy processing and materials handling equipment. Location: New Orleans, LA
Type of Position: Direct HireResponsibilities:
  • Manage full P&L responsibility for the facility.
  • Direct Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality excellence in accordance with company, state, and federal regulations.
  • Manage all recycling operations, including receiving, grading, processing, and shipping of all materials and products.
  • Heavily focus on equipment uptime, production excellence, and continuous improvement by implementing robust maintenance systems, analyzing trends, and making recommendations.
  • Develop a high-performance team through leading by example and initiative, continuous learning, motivation, and coaching.
  • Responsible for people development and succession planning.
  • Understand LEAN management principles.
  • Responsible for management of onsite contractors.
  • Demonstrate customer service excellence as relates to both suppliers and consumers.
  • Operating Expenditure (OPEX) and annual budgeting.
  • Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and annual budgeting.
  • Oversee and develop strategic growth projects.
  • Excellent communication with all functional departments such as safety, commercial, logistics, maintenance, engineering, finance & marketing with a problem-solving approach.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and new technology.
  • Effectively deal with governmental and regulatory agencies.
  • Overall management of the facility to ensure quality output at minimum cost.
  • Assist the General Manager with any yard needs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience
  • 5+ years of management experience within metals, mining, aggregate processing facility or large construction project or equivalent plant type environment
  • Experience of P&L management, including overhead control
  • Solid understanding of heavy processing and materials handling equipment required
  • Ability to rapidly process and comprehend substantial amounts of detailed information and to consider the implications and consequences of new facts and make decisions
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and nights if necessary
  • Proven leadership skills to build consensus, rally support around common goals, motivate groups and individuals, and create employee ownership
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize, plan, and manage multiple tasks
  • Working conditions and physical environment may require periods of work in all-weather conditions, including heat, cold, wet, dry, and dusty
  • Requirement to learn the wide range of grades of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
  • Proficient with IT and ability to learn EMR operating systems and software as well as Microsoft products
