Growing together.The Storage Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert providing operational and engineering support of enterprise storage area networks, networked attached storage, and data protection technologies. This position requires advanced knowledge and experience with the installation and configuration of storage solutions, connectivity, and interoperability with various hosting platforms. The storage engineer will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance as well as storage related project and lifecycle efforts. This role will work closely with other technology teams and leaders.You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. West Coast PreferredPrimary Responsibilities:
  • Enterprise Storage Engineering and Operations subject matter expert
  • Manages storage infrastructure, including SAN, NAS, Public cloud storage, and Data Protection (Backup/Recovery)
  • Duties include operational maintenance, monitoring, provisioning, performance tuning, configuration, reporting, capacity planning, break/fix, life cycle, patching and upgrades
  • Mentor others as it relates to enterprise storage
  • Works with operations and engineering teams to plan and coordinate the future state of the storage environment
  • Works with business/customers in identifying technical requirements, designing, and implementing storage solutions
  • Define and enforce standards as well as best practice for storage
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including procedures, diagrams, and runbooks
  • Adheres to ITSM and change control processes
  • Performs after-hours work as necessary
  • Participates in on-call support as necessary

  • 7+ years of professional related field experience in Information Technology or Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience with SAN, NAS, and Backup/Recovery technologies
  • Experience with VMware hypervisor, Windows, and Linux operating systems
  • Experience developing technical documentation
  • Engineering experience with knowledge in all aspects of designing, developing, and managing enterprise storage systems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience with Pure FlashArray, Dell EMC Unity, and Isilon or similar storage technologies
  • 3+ years of experience with Cisco MDS and/or Brocade fibre channel fabrics
  • Experience with Rubrik CDM backup/recovery product
  • Public cloud storage and backup experience (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • IAC, scripting and/or programming experience to automate routine tasks
  • SaaS storage and backup solution experience
  • Managed services provider experience
  • IP network knowledge (including iSCSI)
  • EPIC and/or Cerner EHR system architecture knowledge
  • Demonstrated awareness of the importance of reliability and security in storage solution design

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
