Sets up and operate press brake machines to bend, form or straighten metal and structural shapes, as specified by work order, blueprints, drawing, templates or layout
Operates an ETS3000 Accupress CNC controller to input information into machine
Adjusts ram and back gauge locations per process control instructions and blueprints
Performs programming using all features of the press brake
Produces parts for Fit-up or assembly operations
Meets customer specifications and delivery requirements
Programs the CNC to produce new parts that meet specifications
Performs inspections on all parts by checking height, depth and thickness using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, gauges and other precision-measuring instruments.
Configures bend allowances for sheet metal
Follow shop drawings to lay-out and punch or drill holes as required
Performs cross training on other equipment such as Laser and Plasma
Job Requirements:A. Education & Training
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years of work experience as a Press Brake Operator
Technical Requirements
Strong attention to detail
Good mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machines of various types
Strong math skills to include decimals and fractions, as well as a strong understating of Geometry is a must
Have a good understanding of computer applications and file sharing
Ability to read and understand drawings and blueprints
Ability to measure and work with tight tolerances
Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
Ensure machine is calibrated and cleaned
Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings
C. Physical RequirementsPerforms climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for long periods of time, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping. Coordinates the use of eyes, hands and feet. Maintains physical strength and stamina. Exerts up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This position requires the incumbent to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.Working Conditions:This position is subject to hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles and electrical current.
