General SuperintendentThe General Superintendent is accountable for daily leadership, planning, and coordination of multiple construction projects and field teams at the project level. This role demands intense daily collaboration and input on projects with project teams for field related functions, including labor, logistics, safety, quality, field coordination, project planning, and superior reporting. It is imperative that this individual has excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as depth of applicable experience and technical knowledge to identify, troubleshoot, problem solve and articulate specific project requirements that align with our core values, corporate organizational procedures, and industry best practices by performing and delegating the primary duties outlined below.Responsibilities
  • Gain and maintain the confidence of the customer.
  • Master Builder that understands complex building systems, Process Management, and various construction types.
  • Accountable for project results and metrics in Safety, Quality, Schedule, and Cost.
  • Proper preparation with every trade partner prior to work commencement. Thorough review and documentation of all approved submittals plans and specs before any work commences.
  • Collaboration with project team in Site Logistics Planning.
  • Set the tone for projects to display exemplary professionalism in how project teams treat and interact with others.
  • Drive project milestones and enforce schedule management and best practices at the project level.
  • Promote ownership in the schedule and ensure that the field supervisors provide bi-weekly updates to the project scheduling team; the General Superintendent must have a working knowledge of MS Project and/or P6.
  • Confirm that daily reports and field project logs are being documented, per company policy.
  • Monitor accuracy of daily reports and review field pictures that are recorded and documented by field supervisors.
  • Collaborate with VP, Field Operations to continually refine our standards of work for field supervisors.
  • Have a full understanding of project general requirements and self-performed scopes of work to maintain project profitability.
  • Ensure that superintendents review and understand requirements for every subcontractor or major vendor prior to work commencement.
  • Maintain the company Safety Culture on site; enforce safety standards and manage all safety infractions.
  • Confirm project specific orientation sticker on hard hat policy is enforced and the field supervisions team is providing safety orientation for all workers on site.
  • Enforce and ensure safety inspection process through Procore are occurring (daily equipment inspections, weekly inspections by superintendents, and safety observations, as needed); trench, scaffolding, confirmed spaces and other daily inspection required by OSHA
  • Confirm permits are on hand for the project and as needed for the subcontracted scopes of work.
  • Provide mentorship for project superintendent and field operations team on each assigned project.
  • Ensure NPDES and all erosion control monitoring, logs, reporting, and permit requirements are maintained on site.
  • Ensure all QAQC policies, procedures and best practices are being implemented in the field, by field supervision, per company policy and project requirements.
  • Coach, mentor, and cultivate talent to ensure personal and professional development.
  • Ensure the Owner, Design Team, and LIA representative are satisfied with the field team and field operations. Become the go to person if needed to address any concern.
  • Demonstrate communication and professionalism with clients and external partners.
  • Collaborate with VP, Field Operations to develop and achieve short- and long-term goals, objectives, strategies, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Review and analyze activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to assess performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the areas of performance and profitability.
  • Engage the Marketing Team to identify new business opportunities and drive repeat business through performance.
  • Monitor project tracking systems, schedules, material tracking, long lead deliveries, labor production, and reports. Identify potential risks and manage appropriately with the project management team.
  • Manage appropriate staffing for assigned projects.
  • Fill in for the project superintendent, as needed, to ensure that the project is properly always supervised / staffed.

Basic requirements
  • BS Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Related Field (Optional) and 10+ Years’ Experience
  • In lieu of a formal degree, 18+ years of related experience repeatedly delivering multiple complex projects applicable size and scope of what we do. Representative experience for finishing great projects successfully.
  • OSHA 30
  • NPDES Level 1A Blue Card Certification
  • First Aid/CPR

Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather and risk of electric shock.
