- Helps patients by responding to requests, obtaining needed services from nurses, licensed practical nurses, counselors, physicians, and other personnel.
- Provides information by answering questions and requests.
- Conducts urine screens and takes care of the shipments
- Orders tests and makes appointments, accepts and records lab reports and orders prescriptions
- Maintains unit operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects inpatient operations by keeping information confidential
- Assists with changing of bed linens and ensuring that housekeeping is contacted regarding cleaning
- Ensures that bed linens are clean and available
- Assists with setting out food and taking patients cafeteria when needed
- Assists with monitoring patients with showers, laundry and other patient needs
- Perform various clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing units as illustrated by the following:
- Assembles patient charts and prepares other medical record forms required for patient admission, transfer, or dismissal
- Documents patient care services by copying nursing and physician notes to patient and department records.
- Answer the telephone in a professional manner; direct calls to appropriate individuals and/or take messages.
- Stock units with office and medical supplies weekly; prepare requisitions to maintain established inventories.
- Fax and photocopy information as needed.
- Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the unit as well as within other units and departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
- Participate in computer training and assume gradually increasing computer-related responsibilities.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Provide ongoing support of patients' individual recovery processes.
- Use appropriate motivational techniques to engage patients in successfully completing their treatment.
- Maintain a healthy environment that will promote the recovery process.
- Provide basic chemical dependency education that consistently directs patients toward achieving full recovery (i.e., disease of addiction, blackouts, withdrawal, effects on self and others, triggers, relapse process and prevention).
- Communicate and cooperate with peers and medical staff to ensure quality patient care.
- Practice courtesy and professionalism with patients, staff and other departments.
- Practice and promote a good work ethic through promptness and good attendance.
- Maintain a calm, cooperative and positive outlook in working with patients, coworkers, referral sources, and family members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maturity and dependability and high school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge and adherence of CARF standards.

- Valid driver's license and the ability to be covered under the agency's commercial car insurance.
- Proof of car insurance for the vehicle that will be driven in the course of business.
