to learn more about our full benefits packageJOB SUMMARYWorking in conjunction with the Surgical Services Director, the Clinical Care Supervisor is responsible for daily operations and oversight of nursing practice and patient care delivery within the assigned areas of accountability. In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, the Clinical Care Supervisor is responsible for assessing, planning and implementing best practice standards of care through supervision and evaluation of clinical staff, ensuring excellence in patient and family care reflective of CCH mission, vision and values. The Clinical Care Supervisor assists in the planning, direction, organization, and supervision of clinical activities to ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures and quality through the continuum of care. The Clinical Care Supervisor provides effective acclimation, orientation and mentoring of staff. The Clinical Care Supervisor assists with management duties, educational activities and quality initiatives as requested by the Nurse Manager. The Clinical Care Supervisor practices within the framework of the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association professional scope and standards for nursing practice, and AORN standards of practice.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Meets all requirements of a Registered Nurse.
  • Assists manager with the clinical and environmental operations of the designated department/area/ shift, including education, staffing, supply maintenance, fiscal responsibility, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Models and fosters a positive team approach to ensure a collegial and harmonious work environment.
  • Serves as a resource in orienting, coaching, mentoring and evaluating the professional growth of nursing team members.
  • Oversees and participates in the nursing process and documentation thereof.
  • In collaboration with the Director, participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of systems and internal processes to support optimal patient care and appropriate utilization of organizational resources.
  • Coordinates daily staffing productivity and monitors daily surgery schedule. Adjust assignments and schedules as the surgery schedule warrants.
  • Ensures a healthy team environment by role-modeling, participating in patient care, and redirecting staff as needed to focus on patient care and adherence to the unit’s safety, risk management, and standard precautions.
  • Collaborates in the development of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Participates in development of departmental policies and procedures and monitors compliance with standards of clinical practice.
  • Assists with addressing nurse/patient/customer issues to ensure the highest level of service delivery is achieved.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of the department's educational needs.
  • Assists in developing and leading the quality improvement process.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members in communicating the plan of care and anticipated outcomes for the patient.
  • Facilitates patient/family teaching, including physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs.
  • Assures discharge needs are met to ensure efficient and timely patient discharges (where appropriate).
  • At the discretion of the nurse manager, the clinical care supervisor may:
  • Assist with the hiring, training, evaluation and the development of employees’ professional performance growth plans.
  • Assist with employee remediation, disciplinary process, corrective action planning and follow-up as necessary.
  • Evaluate and monitor department/unit orientation processes to assure a timely orientation completion and demonstrated competencies are achieved.
  • Assist in the development of department budget and maintain fiscal compliance.
  • Evaluate new procedures and equipment to ensure maximum efficiencies for the department.
  • Covers in the manager’s absence.
  • Adheres to and enforces compliance of CCMH policies and procedures.
  • Assess on a daily basis bed availability for next day surgical admits.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN encouraged, National Certification of specialty unit recommended.
  • Licensure
  • Current Wyoming Nursing license.
  • Experience
  • Minimum two years’ experience in related field.
