gpca is working with a client company in the Milwaukee area seeking a Maintenance Controls Technician for their 2nd shift food production facility. The Maintenance Controls Technician plays a critical role in overseeing controls, communication systems, and programming for food manufacturing equipment and support systems. This position supports production by optimizing programming to enhance line performance and ensures accurate documentation of programming changes.Essential FunctionsThe Maintenance Controls Technician will:
  • Assist in installing and commissioning small system upgrade and improvement projects.
  • Improve equipment performance through programming and control enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, PLC hardware, IO cards, and wiring diagrams.
  • Provide training on Electrical Controls to technicians as required.
  • Execute Preventative Maintenance (PM) on control components and electrical enclosures.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to maintain detailed documentation on control systems.
  • Aid in standardizing control components across equipment.
  • Keep the Maintenance Manager informed of changes and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on Electrical and Controls maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Uphold company policies related to people and food safety.
Position Qualifications - Competencies:
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret technical documents.
  • Problem-solving skills in non-standardized environments.
  • Organizational skills to meet critical deadlines with accuracy.
Education, Skills & Abilities:
  • Associate's degree in Electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering required.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting industrial electrical control systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; database management skills are advantageous.
  • Extensive experience with Allen-Bradley Control Logix PLCs, Panelview HMI Terminals, and Powerflex variable speed drives.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet communication networks.
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training and knowledge of Electrical Standards (e.g., NEC, UL 508a).
  • Expertise in motion controls.
