Criteria for success (linked to Discovery Agreement)
Best practice feeding and dosage control
Establishing key performance indicators and pertinent operational data requirements (DATA REQUIRED)
Test Plan – duration, sampling
Plant Test Support – work with Met and Operations during plant test to ensure that operational adjustments/optimizing are being undertaken
Data analysis methodology
o ITCs should be involved with plant trials with all Corporate Accounts or other large or strategic plant evaluations
o Recommendations, operational modification, or issues that may arise during a plant trial are to be communicated to the local sales representative. The plant trial belongs to the representative(s) and they are ultimately responsible for all aspects of the plant trial. Any communications of this nature should be led by the local representative and supported by the ITC if needed. We want our local representatives to be viewed as the expert in our customer’s eyes.Service Support
- Customer audits
- Establishment and Implementation of Best Practices
- Assisting in the developing of service tools to help document Nalco service and value addition
- Taking part in ABR (Annual Business Reviews)
ITC’s are required to submit at a minimum an internal trip report for each customer site that has been visited. The trip report should be completed and distributed to the appropriate personnel and posted in the trip report library within (7) days of trip completion. Trip reports consist of: Objectives, Results, Conclusions & Recommendations, Action Plans and any other pertinent information.Sales Representative Training
With proper training, our representatives should be capable and are expected to conduct most laboratory product screening methods without ITC help, with the exception of flotation testing.
As an ITC you will need to become proficient in the following tests methods:
1. Settling Rate Tests (cylinder tests)
2. Jar Test (coagulant testing methods)
3. Filtration Testing (vacuum and twin belt press)
4. Scale control product screening (MCAT – modified carbonate addition testing, Optimizer)
5. Field Water Tests* (pH, Alkalinity, Total Hardness, Ca Hardness, Conductivity, Sulfates, Iron, Phosphates) *for ITCs in regions where process water scale control markets are served
6. Rheology Field Screening Test w/Marsh Funnel
7. Submission of water and deposit samples to corporate analytical labs in appropriate region.InnovationThe ITCs play an important role in the Innovation process by conducting field lab trials and supporting plant evaluations. While our sales representatives must lead this process with their customers, the ITC needs to be working in the background to make sure that details of any plant evaluations are being addressed, proper feed systems, proper feed points, process monitoring, data collection, and data evaluation methodology (the technical details of the plant evaluation).Digital Support
Another important area for support for the Mining ITC team is in digital technology development and deployment. Familiarity working with Signal Processing, Data Acquisition and Data Recording platforms within mining sites, including DCS systems like OSISoft Pi and Emerson DeltaV is desirable. Also, experience working with a variety of PLC systems like Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc. An understanding of common protocols and experience integrating third-party equipment into the existing digital infrastructure of mining customers would be beneficial, as well as experiencing leveraging data for maximum value to mining customers.Personal Training
Each ITC is responsible for his/her own technological development and advancement, your value to Nalco and to our sales force increases when you are cross trained. Training should not only consist of different application areas but it should also span various mineral industry segments. There are some areas where training is mandatory; safety, sales processes (CMV, VSP, CSP etc….) are examples of training that every ITC should complete. The safety courses are mandatory and retraining must be completed within the frequencies specified.Minimum Qualifications:
