- 5 years' relevant work experience in a high technology environment (Aerospace and Military)
- Demonstrated relevant leadership experience
- Familiarity with government contractual procurement procedures, standards and quality requirements
- Exemplary verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization, as well as any and all outside agents, including but not limited to; vendors, suppliers, customers, potential job candidates, etc.
- Highly computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
- Must be a US Citizen
- Drive the advancement of the company's engineering capabilities
- Utilize existing tools to achieve improved process capabilities, including, but not limited to, dynamic analysis (MATLAB), requirements traceability (DOORS), FEA structural and thermal analysis (Pro/Mechanica), CAD/CAM (Pro/E), and internally developed analysis techniques (Valve Design).
- Generate proposals, program costing, operational efficiencies and effectiveness (cost reduction) programs and manage project tracking and reporting.
- Serves as a technical resource in the application of existing, new and advanced engineering theories, concepts, principles and processes
- Helps interpret customer/marketing requirements for the purpose of generating technical/product specifications to meet customer needs
- Meet constantly-changing requirements in an organized fashion to meet stringent design requirements, delivery dates, and cost goals with very high-quality products
- Actively participate in the development of Marotta business and engineering strategy to achieve company financial and business goals
- Manage and maintain a viable Research and Development Function
- Develop, manage and maintain engineering knowledge, expertise, and internal and external resources to support past, current and developing products and services. Recommend changes and suggest new programs
- Prepare Engineering Proposals, Estimates and Project Plans to meet customer requirements or internal needs.
- Monitor the progress of Projects, take action to keep on track (time, money, quality) and make adjustments when needed
- Provide information to internal and external customers on project progress and latest expectations
- Develop and maintain applicable systems for developing, documenting, maintaining engineering product and specifications and background in a secure, accessible and effective manner.
- Recruit, hire, orient, manage, develop, motivate, recognize, reward and where necessary discipline and terminate personnel
- Develop external relationships with customers, consultants and vendors to extend the engineering competencies and resources to address Marotta business needs
- Address potential issues proactively and apply real-time problem solving skills to achieve prompt resolution. Continually address improvement opportunities
- Prepare and manage project and department budgets
- Allocate resources, materials and the scheduling of equipment for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel, as required
- Manage training requirements of applicable internal team members (and external, when applicable). Facilitate training, as needed, to maintain a cross-trained workforce and to support operational goals and objectives
- Develop and manage internal and external Engineering resources
- Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
- This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
- Local and non-local travel is required for this position (15-20%)
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear.
- The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel
- The employee is frequently required to sit at length, stand, walk, and move about the facility.
- The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 20 pounds
- Some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary
