- Responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing and production release of a Body-in-white system and/or components.
- Responsible for Supporting Feasibility Dev. thru Template application with Design Office Themes.
- Responsible for Upperbody components & assemblies thru Program CAD milestones.
- Responsible for System Requirement Sections & BIW Part Template Application thru entire program.
- Responsible for Maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for Engineering.
- Other responsibilities will include quality improvements, weight reduction, cost reduction and other efficiency improvement initiatives including communicating technical product status to management.
- Support meetings throughout NA work hours to work closely with local engineering teams, Architeture/Vehicle Concepts & PDO with iterative models to align with all packaging, functional objectives and system requirements.
- Responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing, and release of body closure sheet metal and hinging systems.
- Development and validation of assigned components and communicating technical product status and competitor benchmarking to management.
- Coordinating the packaging with all adjacent departments (electromechanical, electrical, lighting, trim).
- Responsible for working with virtual validation groups to ensure that the CAE scorecard is met as well as manufacturing feasibility.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating DVP&R, DFMEA.
- Responsible to support & manage suppliers for quality actions and VO activities.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program.
- More than 5 years of engineering experience.
- Design/development engineering experience in Body in White, closures or exterior systems.
- CAD experience.
- Proficient in Google and MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
- 1 year of experience in NX and Teamcenter in a production release environment BIW in-plant launch experience.
- Knowledgeable in use of Unigraphics, NX and Teamcenter
- Self-starter with strong leadership, communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability
- Knowledgeable in regards to high strength steels, welding and GD&T
- Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
- Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
- Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green Belt/Black Belt
- Reactive Green/Black Belt
- KBE experience desired
- Intermediate to advanced level of design/development engineering experience in Body-Body in White, Closures, or Exterior Systems
- Knowledge and experience with composites and composite production processes
- Knowledge and experience with steel / aluminum forming processes
- BIW in-plant launch experience
- Knowledgeable in regards to high strength steels, weld parameters and GD&T.
